This Education and childcare T Level is suitable for anyone wanting a career in early years education, childcare or assisting teaching. Students can progress into roles such as; nursery worker, special educational needs teaching assistant, teaching assistant, learning mentor.

During the two year course, students will learn the core knowledge and skills that underpin many jobs in early years education, childcare and teaching. A substantial industry placement with a range of childcare employers will give you a wide understanding across the age ranges.

19+ learners are now eligible to apply for this T Level. Adult students may undertake an industry placement where the length is reduced by 50%, but all placements must still take place on the employer premises. There is currently no flexibility to undertake placements remotely.

Adult students will have to complete the same assessments as 16–18-year-old students and the assessment schedule will also be the same. Assessments will not be reduced or altered for adult learners.

Overview

Students who are interested in the added work experience aspect of the new T Level qualification but are not quite ready for Level 3 would benefit from this new Level 2 course. Students can improve their GCSE Maths and/or English grades whilst adding to their knowledge of the Education and Childcare sector and gaining confidence and experience in preparation for the Work Experience aspect of the Level 3 T Level.

T Levels are new and exciting courses developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to prepare learners for the needs of the industry and include extensive placement hours. Both Level 2 and Level 3 include Employer set projects and the courses focus on vocational skills.

Details

As well as extensive work experience and an employer set project the course includes classroom elements in college. This will include child nutrition, developmental stages of children, learning through play and children’s first aid. The employer set project will reflect what employers expect of students in the future and widen the students’ knowledge of the subject. Maths and English will be industry-specific enabling students to understand the use of both in the sector. This is a great preparation for study at a higher level and working in this important industry.

How Will It Be Delivered?

The course will be assessed in different ways including the main project, examinations and portfolio building.

Entry Requirements

English GCSE Grade 4 or above and 2 or 3 other GCSEs at 4 or above.
