The Maintenance Engineering Technologies T Level is suitable for anyone wanting a career in Engineering and Manufacturing. This qualification will include a core content and an occupational specialism that is specific to the industry.
During the two year course, learners will learn the core knowledge and skills that underpin many jobs in engineering. A substantial industry placement with a range of employers will give you a wide understanding of the industry.
THE T LEVEL IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES WILL INCLUDE
A Core Component which is designed to offer sufficient breadth of knowledge and skills for the learner to apply in a variety of contexts related to the engineering industry and those Occupational Specialisms linked to this T Level.
The common core content is the building blocks of knowledge and skills that will give a learner a broad understanding of the industry and job roles. At the same time, it will develop the core skills they will need to apply when working within the industry.
An Occupational Specialism component (Mechanical, Mechatronic or Light & Electric Vehicles) which will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to achieve threshold competence in an occupation. The learner must also demonstrate the ability to achieve occupational competence over time with the correct support and training.

T LEVEL TRANSITION LEVEL 2 – MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES
Overview
This programme is for any learner wishing to undertake a Level 3 T Level programme in the following year. Non-eligibility to the T Level programme may be due to not having the GCSE grades required, or if you do not feel ready to undertake the T Level.
Details
As part of the transition programme, you will undertake a Level 2 qualification, an employer-set project and a work placement amongst other components such as skills for life and work, and additional practical skills. The programme is of one-year duration and will have a natural progression to a T Level programme if achieved to the appropriate standard.
How Will It Be Delivered?
The programme is full time and will be delivered over 3-4 days per week. You will undertake the Level 2 qualification across the full year and the employer-set project and work placement at specific points throughout the year. The programme will consist of face to face delivery and some online delivery.
Entry Requirements
A minimum of a Grade 4 will be required in both GCSE Maths and English to be eligible for the transition programme. An assessment will also take place to determine further eligibility.
